What Is the Most Common Door Size?

Most Common Door Sizes

To make a choice for door size as simple as possible, it’s great to know that there are three main sizes for the average standard exterior door size. The typical height for an entry door is 80 inches with a thickness of 1 ¾ inches. Now, if you have an older home, you may notice that your door opening may be on the smaller end as there have been some changes due to The American Disability Act, which has required new home builders to actually create a door that is at least 3 feet wide. So, the most common entry door widths are 30 inches, 32 inches, and 36 inches, with a typical 80 inches in height and 1 ¾ inch of thickness. Let’s take a closer look at each entry door size.

The 30 Inch Door

The 36 Inch Door

The 42 Inch Door
